Which phone are you using?
Everything happens on your phone — you just need the temporary passcode from {{HELP}}. One instruction per screen, take them in order.
Have your temporary passcode ready
{{HELP}} sent you a temporary passcode. You'll use it once, in place of a password, to sign in to the app. Type it exactly as it was sent — no spaces.
Install Microsoft Authenticator
Tap the button below to open the store, then install the app. Check the publisher says Microsoft Corporation — there are copycat apps.
The button didn't open the store
Open the App StorePlay Store yourself and search for Microsoft Authenticator.
Open the app and allow notifications
Open Authenticator and accept or skip the intro screens. When it asks to send you notifications, tap Allow — future sign-in requests arrive that way.
Add your work account
A freshly installed app offers to add an account straight away. Choose Work or school account, then Sign in.
The app was already installed
If you see a list of accounts instead of an invitation to add one, start it yourself:
Enter your work email address
Type your full work email address, then tap Next. A Microsoft sign-in page opens inside the app.
Enter the temporary passcode
The sign-in page asks for your temporary access pass. Type the passcode {{HELP}} sent you and tap Sign in.
It's asking for a password instead
Tap Use your Temporary Access Pass instead or Other ways to sign in on that screen. If neither appears, the passcode has likely expired — ask {{HELP}} for a new one.
Finish setting up the account
Follow the last prompts — tap Continue, Register or Done if you're asked. Your work account then appears in the app's list.
You're set up
From now on, sign in with your normal password and approve the request on your phone. Your temporary passcode is finished — you can discard it.
